A Top Republican Exposed the One Coronavirus Fact the Media Got Dead Wrong

The mainstream media have failed the public in a catastrophic way.

They owe America a big apology.

A top Republican exposed the one coronavirus fact the media got dead wrong.

There has been a lot of bad data surrounding the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that started in Wuhan, China.

Some of it was started by the Chinese government, other misinformation was caused by the high rate of asymptomatic patients and those with mild symptoms.

Another problem with the data was that since tests were saved for only the sickest of patients, it made the disease look far worse.

The media wasn’t spreading bad information on purpose and governors didn’t issue their stay-at-home orders for no reason, but soon Democrats discovered that they could use the expanded government powers for their political ends.

Antibody tests of 3,000 people in New York showed that 21% of the people tested in New York City and 14% of the people across the state had antibodies to the coronavirus.

The coronavirus is dangerous because of its ability to sweep through vast portions of the population, and the elderly, and people with preexisting conditions should still be careful, but except for New York City, there was not a large-scale outbreak.

Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis was lambasted by the media for weeks for keeping his state open and not doing a total shutdown. He made the choice that was best for his state.

Studies have shown that the coronavirus doesn’t spread as easily in warm weather and many of the cities in Florida are more spread out.

While at the White House, DeSantis destroyed the media for their unending criticisms of his response.

According to The Daily Wire:

Asked about criticism that he’s faced for not implementing a full shutdown early on, DeSantis let the media have it. “What have the results been?” he rhetorically asked, according to Fox News. “You look at some of the most draconian orders that have been issued in some of these states and compare Florida in terms of our hospitalizations per 100,000, in terms of our fatalities per 100,000.”

“I mean, you go from D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, you name it. Florida has done better,” the Republican continued.

“And that has not happened because we understood we have a big, diverse state, we understood the outbreak was not uniform throughout the state, and we had a tailored and measured approach that not only helped our numbers be way below what anyone predicted, but also did less damage to our state going forward,” explained DeSantis.

“We’ve had people in the hospital, but I am now in a situation where I have less than 500 people at a state of 22 million on ventilators as of last night,” he added. “And I have 6,500 ventilators that are sitting idle, unused throughout the state of Florida.”

The point of flattening the curve is to make sure that the hospital capacity doesn’t get overwhelmed.

Only New York City was ever in danger of that happening and even then, with an estimated 20% of their population getting the virus, they didn’t get overwhelmed.

More American governors should handle the coronavirus like DeSantis and have careful local policies where needed and not blanket stay-at-home orders.
